You're welcome aboard the X31 
Bus service X31 is one of our most important routes, running through many key towns and villages throughout South Bedfordshire, linking local communties with important regional centres at Luton, Milton Keynes, Hemel Hempstead and Dunstable.  Quite simply, it can take you where you want to go. 

How it runs
At the heart of the route is the fast link the X31 provides between Luton Rail Station and Town Centre, Luton & Dunstable Hospital, and Dunstable.  It runs every 15-20 minutes for most of the day, Monday to Saturday, and is quicker than most other bus services because it misses out the traffic congested area around Bury Park, instead heading straight down Hatters Way - the same way that you would choose to drive yourself.
 
Once you arrive in Dunstable, many buses continue their journey, heading off in different directions.  About one bus an hour heads north to Milton Keynes via Hockliffe, one bus an hour to Toddington via Houghton Regis, and a bus every 1-2 hours heads off to Whipsnade Zoo and Hemel Hempstead.
 
This may all seem confusing at first, but remember to look out for the destination shown on the front of the bus, and also remember that all X31 buses link Luton, the L&D and Dunstable.   

 
A great way to Milton Keynes 
From Luton and Dunstable, X31 can whisk you to the centre of Milton Keynes, for work, shopping or leisure.  Buses also serve Bletchley and Milton Keynes General Hospital. You will find our fares offer great value, and with explorer four people can travel for just £10 return!
 
 
 
Whipsnade Zoo
Many X31 buses also serve Whipsnade Zoo, part of the Zoologicial Society of London, and one of the country's premier zoos.  X31 buses run Monday to Saturday and run every hour to the zoo at peak times, or two-hourly during the off-peak part of the day. explorer is a great way for groups to get there at a bargain price, but X31 passengers can also get discount admission rates at the Zoo.  Simply download the voucher, and present a completed voucher with your bus tickets at the Zoo gate for 2 FOR 1 admission tickets. For the latest prices, please do email or call us for details.  You will, of course, also save on the car parking charges you would pay if you drive yourself, so it's savings all round!  X31 also provides a great link to the zoo for rail travellers - you can buy an inclusive rail and bus and ticket at your local railway station, and change onto the X31 at Luton Central Rail Station, or Hemel Hempstead Station.

DIrect buses for shoppers or workers at Hemel Hempstead too
X31 also runs every 2 hours to Hemel Hempstead Town Centre, with many buses also serving the rail station at Boxmoor.  Hemel Hempstead is an important regional town for shopping and industry, and X31 can help with your travel needs. If you are looking for a new leisure destination, why not give Hemel Hempstead a try - explorer will get 4 people there for just £12.

For Toddington and Mid Bedfordshire
An hourly service from Toddington runs to Dunstable, L&D Hospital, and into Luton Town Centre.  It's becoming increasingly popular for travellers who find it a more convenient way into Luton.  At peak times, certain buses run to or from Flitwick, Westoning and Harlington, designed to meet the needs of workers in Dunstable and Luton.

At Toddington, many buses connect with the Grant Palmer X42 service to Bedford, and through fares are available to Bedford from the driver when you board the bus.
